Rail Buggy Hill Killers

Rail Buggy Hill Killers

People have long been debating on which is better a 2wd Rail Buggy Hill Killers or a 4wd Rock Buggy. The guys over at Southern Rock Racing Series decided to put on race to find out. They cleared a new bounty hill at Hawk Pride Off Road Park that would test both vehicles equally. The hill was fairly steep and wide with a series of ledges. The first two were small and the 3rd one was a good 2 or 3 foot rock face with stumps and a huge tree on either side. Bobby Tanner busted out the chain saw and put some finishing touches on one of the stumps so it wouldn’t cause any damage to the competitors.

The Race is on

A crowd of spectators watched on as Jordan Tanner staged his Screamin 2 Buggy at the starting line. He came through the timing lights like a man on a mission slinging dirt everywhere. He easily launched up all 3 of the ledges with a quick time. Next was Randall Key in the Green Goblin Buggy. He tore through the beginning of the course but dug down in the sandy hillside and had to back up and hit it again before making to the top of the hill. LC smoked the course in his Sosebees Offroad Buggy with the fastest time of the day for a buggy. Adam Adair sent a tire and rim barreling through the trees and into the crowd after all of the studs on his passenger side rear axle sheared off. The Overtime Buggy wheelied up the final ledge and Shelby Tanner throttled her way out the top in her Ol Black Buggy. The John Deere Buggy made a wicked run bouncing around before conquering the climb. Bobby Tanner hit the first ledge with so much speed that his rear yoke failed and went through the fuel cell ended his day. Now it was time for the Rails to tackle the hill. Wormy hit the hill with a vengeance in his Orange Rail but was stopped in his tracks on the top ledge. He backed back down to the bottom and shot over the last ledge with ease. Michael Hyde was next up in his Blue Rail. He screamed up the course with the fastest time overall and won the event and took home the Cash.

Who won?

As for what type of rig is the best. Looks like the Rail Buggies took it today but I think both vehicles have their strengths and weaknesses. Once the competition was over the drivers stuck around and put on a show for the crowd. The Rail Buggies tried different lines. The John Deere Buggy took a spectacular roll from the top of the bounty hill all the way to the bottom and Jordan Tanner even made a new line to the far left of the course in screamin 2 and named it Rocky Top. It was a great event and we can’t wait to go again. See you at the next one where the Rail Buggy Hill Killers will be shooting for the top.
